This el cheapo GPX C930 would at first glance appear to be an early CD boomer...



But a second glance would show that the 'CD' door...



...is merely a second tape deck!



Cheeky stuff even for GPX...

This is slightly uncommon but amply documented. It was Lasonic TRC-920 who first drew my attention on the phenomenon. Here's a pic he took while we were visiting a fleamarket a couple of weeks ago:




The fake CD design is on pair with the fake tweeters of many boxes of the classic era: cheap glamour and a touch of theatre never hurt -- and make the box look more desirable (note also the fake led in the right upper corner of the radio scale)
