I always see the ones they put up from the Russian federation for $3500, but $10000?!?!?!

What the hell are they smoking?

What ever it is I want some!

Exactly. I was looking for an earth lead for a Technics SL-BD22D turntable and there were many for a price a little on the high side of a decent price but one chancer had/has one listed for..........................................999.99 euros!!! I managed to lay my hands on one for £7.50 by being patient.

I don't even look at those listings in fear of accidentally buying it

I guess this is a marketing strategy. lets say you want to sell it for $3000. Just post simulator item for $10000 and buyers will think that $3000 isn't to high :w00t:

The same seller has many other expensive boomboxes including several 777s for a few grands each. Other 777s are cheaper probably because they do not have original boxes :-) The Russian culture of boombox collecting is still interesting. If you look at this particular seller's boombox pictures (example - https://www.ebay.com/itm/CASIO-KX-101-Stereo-Boombox/232546139932?hash=item3624d47f1c:g:2eUAAOSwa0VZ-c6m) it is clear that he represents a store specializing in vintage boomboxes located in some shopping mall (the sign on the other store in the background says Евросеть -this is one of the largest electronics retailers in Russia). They have a lot of great boomboxes (but charge a lot for them).

Yeah, they're hoping to catch someone who wants to add a feature to their Mayfair apartment, I work in Mayfair and see many guys who wouldn't bat an eyelid at paying such prices.

There are many strange guys on ebay multiplying the average price 3-5 times on anything.
The habit eBay sellers have of overpricing things I like, notably vintage clothing and electronics, are downright frustrating. Sometimes, the thrifts are one's best bet.

Though, never heard of someone selling a 777 for $10,000, seller must be mad.

every few days --these russian goofs flood ebay with a dozen outrageous $$$ listings --
wonder if they ever sold even ONE box ??

since ebay does not charge anything before an item sells --
they have nothing to loose
