Are you sure the cassette deck isn't stuck in play mode or the heads stuck engaged? That would cause the power to stay on too.

Sounds to me like the sleep mode is activated by cassette belts being bad and deck stuck in play mode.
Ah I see. Hadn't thought or knew of sleep mode. Yes the decks are both stuck on playing. Heads not up. Getting deck out was my next mission. Hopefully do later tonight and see if can get it stopped to see if it works then. Cheers

Belts arent too bad on this one (are they Docs  ) it just involves the chassis out and working in the limited space with some dental tools or similar, this removes the need for too much deconstruction.

You know what, i have been listening to my new Irn Mnky tape on it this evening, i bloody love this thing. It's the prettiest box ever and has a fantastic deck. Since i got it very few days pass that i don't use it, the DJ Tech edges it out as an outdoor box because i refuse to take this outside but thats it, for everything else its my go to. Plus it came from a cool dude, i'll never part with it :)

Yours is awesome tho Rahrah, its the Japanese one to so pretty exotic

I would have been disapointed to hear any different from you my friend, the only main issue with mine is the loudness is dead but the bass and treble work, such a strange issue, the music search is also dead but i don't really care about that, i guess thats why im looking for another lad, beutiful box though, better looking than any woman lol, yours looks very clean also bro :-)

Yeah they do look so good. Mine should be clean i was in danger of polishing it into oblivion. Reminds me of my Dad with his new Sierra in the 80s, he loved it so much he never stopped washing and polishing it lol

I got it back together last night. Contact cleaned all bits and pieces. Volume still bit scratchy so have to get into it again. The ALC switch makes weird loud clicking noises when moved?
Little bit ruff around edges but I'm happy. Had the deck out but didn't attempt to get into it without having right belts first. Easy enough getting to it again now I know how. 😁
