Yesterday rec'd my newest delivery.

[sharedmedia=core:attachments:37634]

For the good:

It is the cleanest, best sounding box that I've ever heard. It is amazing, not the loudest, but definitely hi-fidelity. I would say it rivals smaller home systems. Super clean sound, even at full volume. Never distorts, even through AUX with multiple devices.

Well engineered sound. Really very light weight. 10 lbs. Small in size. Nice feeling leather handle. Quality build, quality components. Made in USA.

For the bad:

Not a boombox. Just a BT speaker. No tuner, cassette or card reader. Not shaped for walking around.

Regardless, it is an amazing speaker. If anyone likes great sound in a portable package, this box is worth taking a look at.

Very cool box. My latest DIY V6.0 build was modelled on your model of DiamondBoxx.
IMG_4190.JPG (Poor mans Model M)

People often underestimate the power and sound quality possible from a small box with tiny 4 inch drivers.

The key to the performance increase over vintage boxes is the super clean, high output amplifiers. I'd love a DiamondBoxx but the cost of importing one to Australia is incredibly expensive.

TBH, with Apple Music etc, I just don't find myself listening to tapes or even FM radio anymore! 2 or 3 songs and then 5 minutes of advertisements? No thanks! :-)

I definitely rate DiamondBoxx as the highest quality BT speaker manufacturer right now.

I applaud your decision to give one of these a try - life is too short to be stuck listening to poor sounding audio devices.

James..... :-)

Congrats man, I've never heard one of these. As long as your happy with it is all that matters.

So where to find super clean, high output amps that we could build our own. I like your custom, I think if I could find quality high output amps I would like to build my own. Watching youtube vids, doesn't seem too difficult.

Amps are the easy bit - the match up of cabinet design and speaker selection is the difficult bit. The drivers used in the DiamondBoxx Model M are available from Parts-express.com

That is a great place to start. :-)

I have installed those into my PC-5 boxes, they hit good. I've also purchased their 5 1/4 inch drivers for my Polk boxes, those hit amazingly hard. But if I'm building a box, I need to be able to power the speakers. I want a clean high peak power amp, nothing that clips too easily.
