Hello, this is my first post of the forum,
I have recently purchased a Panasonic RX-DT401 and it has a possibly unusual problem when playing a CD.
I have to lift the front of the boombox up at an angle of at least about 30 degrees in order for the CD to play properly, however if the boombox rests level it seems to be stuck in fast forward mode and skips through the CD.

Just wondering if anyone here may have an idea as to what the problem is?

Thank you.

Hello there g.c.1990,Welcome to Boomboxery. That's a pretty nice egg you've got there. I've got an rx-ds45 myself. Panasonic made the best eggs that's for sure. If you're gonna buy an egg get a Panny I always say. As far as your problem goes, its a strange one for sure. All I know to do on b.box CD players is to clean the lens. As far as the mechanism itself goes,I dunno. Wish I could be of more help to you. Someone should come along and help you out. We predominantly collect square or what I like to call briefcase style boomboxes here. So be patient. Also we have a new members intro area further down the main menu. You can head down there and introduce yourself all propper like. Once again welcome.☺☺☺

There is not a whole lot I know about CD section. I've replaced belts on some but they were the early generation CD players. I wanted to play with it and learn. It was all exploration.

A top cup comes and grabs on the CD to keep it in position. See if that is free.... also clean the lens with a soft squirrel hair brush for any dirt.
From what I remember there are several belts in the unit. They also can slip and cause issues.

Other members can chime in....

Thanks ralrein1, the sound quality is amazing if held at the right angle haha.
I had a look at yout b.box on google, looks pretty cool also!
I will give the lens a more thorough clean, if that fails, perhaps a replacement lens may work, are these even available?
I plan to buy a more of a 'rectangle' shaped boombox off a friend very soon also a panasonic, the RX C53.
I may well pay a visit to the new members area, thank you.

Hi boomboxlover48, I have checked the cup and it appears to move freely, I will also try and give the lens a good clean.
Hopefully the belts are okay, if not perhaps I can source some from somewhere?

Thanks for your suggestions.
