Dear members and followers,

i have waiting very long for my VINIX 6704 but now its the time to let you also know what i do with that......

As i get it the VINIX was in acceptable condition, but there are some little issues to detect and to fix and solve.

For example the tapedeck want to works. I cant push the buttons. They was like fixed in his positions. I wonder about.

Also the VU meters are not working. Both pointer was fixed in a position and dont work any more.

And some potis are scratches a little, but it is easy to fix. The batterycover was bended so that it stays a little outside from the cover.

This i have solved with my little heatgun. Its ABS or PS i dont know it at the moment, but the heating was the right solution.

As i open the cover it hits me a liite. So many wires and cables.

I have made some photos.

I dissasembled all switchcovers and pushbuttons from the tapedeck and put them all in my little ultrasonic bath.

They are all ok. And they looks well after the celaning. I can everybody recommend a ultrasonic bath.

Without problems the dirt has no chance against the ultrasonic

And i was wonder about a special switch: The FM/LW/KW/UKW switch is nearly the same like in the TRC 920 and 931

It has the same gearwheel and rack like the swith from the TRC series.......Cool i think. I can in worst case took my own gearwheels.....

And a special i have also found on this model: The antenna is exact the same where Superduper searched for many years.

For his Pioneer Centrex RK 888........I have from now on the special antennatipcover. Looks like a hat :-D and in perfect condition.

Here some picture for you to see how it looks inside.......

Good job on the repairs

Looks like you are building a collection now!

These are not high quality, but they look very nice and have lots of features for such a small radio. And yes the antenna is very nice.

Here is mine, it's a VPC-7704

Yeah i like the look very much, a very technical design.....And i know its not the highest quality, but this isnt the most important.....

Now it goes to solve the little problems with the tapedeck

I'm always reminded of old test equipment like an oscilloscope or something similarly technical when I see the knobs and buttons on a Vinix.

So a little update, today reaches me the new belt for the tapedeck.

I will assemble the belt as soon as possible to see if the deck then works fine. In my other thread i get no answer yet about my question what the function is

of the OSZ knob on the top......Maybee someone knows about it a little.....I have no ideas about the function of this knob..... :hmmm:

So here is the update:

The new belt is like magic  and the Auto Stop function works fine too......

My experience now told me now, that my belt with diameter 70mm can be without problems 2mm longer. So the diameter can easy be 71 or 72mm but not more.

The square with 1.6mm is also a very good choice, so that you have a little more surface in intervention. Im very happy now.

And the speed is what i hear absolute perfect. No scratching problems with potis and switches. The recordfunction is also very cool and works also fine.

Both VU meters are working then also perfect.

Today i saw a special on the frame for the VU meters. The original coverfoil is still on the bottom of the frame, where the lettering is printed.

Wow very unusual......
