Hi everyone, Ive just registered as i have a keen interest in 80s boomboxes and I have a Sony FH-77 boom box with a fully working PS Q7 turntable which I'm currently restoring to add to my collection , I also have a mint Sony Fh-7 , anyway the TC-157 cassette deck from the FH-77 transport seems to move perfectly I.e play, auto reverse, fast forward and rewind perfectly so no need for new belts on this one, the big problem though is that there's no sound produced at all, also nothing is recorded when I try to record from another source (checked this by playing the cassette on another player) although the tape is erased, what can be wrong with it ? , the record / play relay seems to be working, I have tried another cassette deck on the amp so i know that is working, any ideas at all would be welcome. Would the Dolby chip cause this issue if that was at fault?

Thanks in advance
