In the world of collecting and among the people who visit this site, the term "Grail" means many things. It could mean "Personal Grail", being a radio from your childhood that might not be a high dollar collectors item, but means allot to you. Or it could mean the top of the hobby.

This hobby decided long ago what two radio's were Kings of the Hill. Long before I ever wandered onto this site.

Those are the mighty JVC RC-M90 and the volume King Kong Conion C-100. Both of these boxes have eluded me....

BUT TODAY....one of them is in my hands!

The path to my hands started many weeks ago, while having a conversation with THAFUZZ (who coincidently, was the very first person to reply to my very first post here on Boomboxery when I first joined!). He told me a story about a C100 and member trippy1313 and after some conversation's between the three of us, I was able to make a deal with Kenny to purchase said C100. I can not thank THAFUZZ enough, this is not the first time he and I have done business and I have to say, he is a straight up honest guy, top tier, best of Boomboxery. Thank you Adam!

And trippy1313 AKA Kenny also went WAY beyond the call of duty on this one. He was kind enough to really work with me on the logistics of what it would take to get it from Washington state to Italy unharmed. He removed the power supply and wrapped it in bubble warp and stored it safely in the radio to prevent it from destroying the insides during transit. Since he never shipped a radio before, he followed my instructions to the T and it got here with no issues. He chose the correct heavy gauge cardboard, double wrapped the box in large bubble wrap, then cardboard again, then bubble wrapped again then boxed! Absolutely perfect. All while juggling a job, wife, kids....man, I can't thank you enough. You are AWESOME!

As soon as I got the radio unboxed, I walk up stairs, grinning ear to ear and the first words out of my wife's mouth....

"It's missin' parts"
:w00t: :-D  :-/  :bang:

So YES!, as you can see, it's missing the cassette deck door as so many do....BUT IT HAS THE BOTTOM TRAY!

Also the feet are in excellent shape. It needs the volume record knob, which Adam has and I may have a go at building a deck door out of 777 door, which Adam has! It needs 2 new antenna, the metal trim around the lower deck keys and drawer (Caution, I'm ready for your trim kit!) and some love.

Kenny was kind enough to give her a good clean before it was shipped and I think it's looks pretty darn good!

Nice! The elusive C100.

Always a great day when adding one of the top tier to your collection (especially if its like yours and already full of top tier!)

Congrats mate,.

Thanks Sal, This is going to be a big job, in a line of really big jobs I still have to do. DAMN I need to stop buying and start fixing LOL I have two 931's to do, a 1st and 2nd gen, a re-work of the Wheelie since I now have all the proper deck parts, I have the Lasonic TRC-915 exploded on my work bench right now and now THIS! I got a lot of work to do this year!

Chris you finally have a Conion!! Man I thought I'd never see the day!
We're damn lucky to have Adam and Kenny in our midst, well done guys.

I ordered the lettering yesterday for the trims, the wheels are in motion!
By the way, Adam left one of his 777 doors at my place, not sure if he remembers??

Dude, I was starting to wonder myself

Adam and Kenny are the real deal. If there are any new folks joining up here on Boomboxery that are reading this, I will just say this to you, this community really works hard for each other. Jump in with both feet, keep a positive attitude and you will meet some great knowledgeable people that will help you get what you need.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

You said it Joe, this forum is amazing. I'm sure it can be done without everyone here, but man, that has to be a lonely expensive way to do it!

Very happy for you to finally get one of your (2) grails. Yes, I 100% agree that a grail is a piece of history from your childhood that is so collectable today. Thanks to Boomboxery, I learn to appreciate the baddest boom boxes of all-time. The Conion was packed so well - very professional!! Have Fun!!

Nice! I want one of these :-)
It's stressful pulling these deals LOL, but thankfully it showed up safe. As great of a job as Kenny did, wouldn't matter if it had a forklift blade through it  (Yeah, I know, the things I think about)

I was really hoping it was the JVC M90 :-D :-D :-D

No Conions for me I'm afraid.............

But as long as you like it, that's all that matters :-)
Just waiting and be prepared when your chance comes...

I'm waiting several 5 years for my C100 and 8 years for my M90.

And Chris, CONGRATS...

Cheers.

Ha,that's kinda funny Nick! I was thinking it might be an rx-5350 knowing Chris' liking of the large and extra large kick ass boomers. Congrats Chris another rad score!
5350 would be sick too, there's just so many big bad ass radio's out there

Gordie used to say, that if you tell everyone you know your looking for radio's then over time, they just start flowing in. It seems to be the case. Pretty much every one of you guys know what I "Don't have"
