Hello members and followers,

got a short question about the reel cleer cassettes:

Are the inner rolls are made from plastic? Got ideas to make my own.

Just in this moment is an idea that comes up if its possible to take

old cds cause there made from polycarbonate and maybee its possible to made the rolls by myself. I dont know

if the inner hole is already too big in the cd's.....But you can print with laser a branding on it? Only an idea....I like the reel cleer style.

And ive never seen that before i became a member in this forum.

Could not be difficult i think. Looks like an ordinary part. Or is it not good because the friction causes electrostatic

issues?

Only a question......have not enough experience with that. But in physics i was even one of the best.....my wish was to be an teacher in mathematics and physics...

But this is long ago, was in a previous life

There were several brands of reel tapes

TEAC were the most popular

Usually they are cut from aluminum and then painted or maybe anodized. Then the reels are glued to a plastic inner roll (which is the same as the roll used by every other cassette).

Then they put a clear plastic film between the reels and the cassette case to prevent the reels from scratching the case.

There is a Russian who makes his own and sells them on Ebay. Here is one:

But I have not spoken to him, so I don't know how he makes them.

The Teacs are far better quality than the reel clear ones (which to me, seems like imitations of the real thing). Frankly the reel clear tapes I only use to place inside a chamber for looks. I never record on any. Some of the best quality tapes in terms of feel and reproduction quality are the TDK MAR series of tapes, but the center doesn't have that attractive metal "reel" look so they aren't as attractive sitting inside a cassette door. Still they are sooo nice when you pick one up. Solid metal frame all the way around.

Ok guys have many thx for your response. :-) Im waiting only for a small vacuum table to mill some flat materials. Better the material.

In further i will try something. The result is still open. But the AIWA decal looks good from the auction.

My inspiration is a little other. I make in my RC club all clothes with decals and so on. Its not so easy like it sounds.

To develope designes i dont know what you must have.....But i have apparently more than enough from that. And all the software too.....

I have not enough lifetime to make all ideas happend. Its better so than i sit the whole day long in a chair and do nothing. I'm ill when i cant do

something.......this only by the way.

THX you.
