A couple of months ago I started to restore two M90s but quickly decided I really only wanted one in my collection, so I sold the other one to a fellow member here who has been trying to snag one for years.

I took it and the bits I collected for the restore and put them into a custom box I had to make from scratch. The maximum size you can ship via Priority Mail International is a 79" "length plus girth" where girth is the two shorter dimensions added together and doubled. In my case I chose 29"x 16" x 9" since that gave me about 1-1.5" on each side (the M90 is about 26.5" x 13" x 6.5" without the knobs on). Anything larger has to go via GXG (Global Express Guaranteed) and triples the price. Even at that price, it was about half of what the big name shippers wanted.

I started with a pair of jumbo double-layer boxes and sliced them up after carefully calculating everything, taking into account the thickness of the box so I didn't end up slightly oversize. In the end I was nearly dead-on.

The original boxes had a different size in mind, so the pre-crease ended up right in the middle of the sides, so I had to reinforce those. I also added a number of extra reinforcements in the corners and some edges so that as much as possible was double-layered.

I found some foam corners at work from some computer monitor packaging, which I shaved down to size. Packed in some other foam chunks between those and bubbles for the rest.

I'm happy to say that after sitting in customs for over a week it finally arrived today, intact!
Enjoy, brother!
