sanyo m9998

i recently acquired a nice sanyo m9998 , ive always wanted one and im not disappointed with the sound, it all works apart from stereo and wide mode is only playing from one speaker mono is playing from both , it affects the vu meters to , radio is fine as it should be, any hints

I would open up and clean that wide/stereo/mono mode switch with deoxit. That is the first try. Once you open it clean all those switches.

It is not that difficult to remove the chassis out and reach those switches. Take pictures of all the plugs you disconnect from the rear panel. Pull upward, turn to one side, and lock the power and dial light switch or else one will break those switches.

Remember this is one of the most difficult boxes to work on. So be very careful!
