And so the path continues!

Had to test the waters on shipping from the US. This package took about 10 days and cost $41. Because our shipping address is an FPO, it's the same as shipping to Washington DC (ish). This radio was packed solid, double boxed, plenty of padding. No issues at all

It's an easy guess....

Lasonic TRC-931 2nd Generation

It's missing a few bits that I will need to track down and of course it will get the full treatment.

Here is a triple hitter! The first 3 generation 931's

This brings my current Lasonic count to 17!

I've been collecting since 2003 owned maybe 250 odd boxes, have some big hitters and have never owned a Lasonic!
Someone have a deal or trade with me for goodness sake!!

Good score Chris! You're an expert at restoring these 931's now!

Sir, as a professional that you are, I think you owe it to yourself to at least try a Lasonic. I personally would suggest a 2nd Gen 931, 935 or good ol' 920. Of all the Lasonic's I have, these still stand out as the best. Of course the 918, 922, 915, 951, 975, i931, 931BT, 931 1st gen and 931 3rd gen are pretty nice too :-D

Great score Chris. Gotta love them Lasonics
Bill, as I did a head count today, I thought of you and the fabulous photos you have posted in the past of the ocean's of Lasonic's you have had. I couldn't help but wonder what your head count was in the past. You used to own many o' Lasonic!

At one point, you were the official record holder (to the best of my knowledge)

Top work, Chris!! How's the mode selector on her?

Has anyone come up with a fix for all the gen 2 931 mode selectors yet?

Rock On.
Hi Glu, totally farked like the rest of them    I will be rebuilding it and if need be, I will manufacture a gear to go in there. Such a PITA, but I will make it work.

Chris, I don't know if you've seen many 3d printed stuff, or molded stuff, but do you think, if we had a good gear, a 3d printer or mold could reproduce a gear clean enough to work well?

I know you've fixed a couple, as have I. They are pretty tiny, intricate gears. It would alost be worth taking a good one off, IF it seemed very likely we could reproduce a good quality one.

It has been done. There was a guy on eBay selling them for $20 each and the forum when madd screaming it cost too much. I would gladly pay $20 for the simple fix of replacing this one. I may have 1 more left in my parts bin. I need to look through all my spares.

The problem is, 3D scanners aren't good enough yet to scan this, so someone using cad cam would have to measure it all and recreate it. It's a very complicated little part. It's not a circular gear. It's like a 3/4 gear that has a flat section and a stop pin. As I said, I have made them by hand. But it takes 6-8 hours.
