Hi guys!

Past 11 years I have been listening to music at home with free or cheap gear. Mainly mp3's with phone and computer (now Spotify) and vinyl records.

Now Im leaning towards vintage audio equipment. I just love how most of them look. I bought myself (almost a mint) Yamaha CR-620 ( https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/yamaha/cr-620.shtml ) and im loving the sound and looks. Now I "need" to upgrade my record player and speakers.

At the moment my setup is CR-620, cheap Marantz plasticy record player with light platter (anything would be a upgrade) and Yamaha NS-50F ( https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/yamaha/ns-50f.shtml ) speakers. Speakers are ok, but I don't like the looks anymore. No narrow tower speakers for me anymore.

Turntable should be good quality and good looks. Im no HiFi -enthusiast, but I just want something that lasts long and sounds good.
Speakers, I like them big. :-D Big drivers big everything. Love how many of Sansui, JBL and Kenwood speakers look. But I don't have any experience how they sound.. Do these sound good?

Any suggestions? What should I look for?
I've been thinking of Thorens TD-160/165/166. Any experience with them? Price range 1-300€ and source would be local "craigslist", eBay De/Uk.
For speakers I've been offered Akai SW-137 MKII https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/akai/sw-137.shtml. Do these sound good? Im willing to spend 1-300€ for speakers too.

Any suggestions and tips are welcome!

I've never been one who could justify spending that kind of money on audio equipment. I don't have the best hearing so I would never be able to distinguish between a $200 something or a $2,000 something. Plenty of vintage turntables, some much cheaper than the Thorens, can sound just as good with a proper setup.

I have a Technics SL-1200MKII at the house for listening and transferring LPs to the computer. In my parents' room above the garage, I have my dad's Denon receiver pushing 75wpc into my set of Sansui SP-7500X speakers and a Kenwood 8" subwoofer. The sound, to me anyway, is phenomenal. The Denon ($6.99) and the subwoofer ($3.99) were both Goodwill purchases. The Sansui speakers were bought off craigslist for $100. :-D

I would hate for you to spend a lot of money and then be unimpressed. ;-)

Thanks for the input El Jefe!

To me 300€ is the top that i can't go over. To me it's about the style, quality and sound. If I have to pay 250€ to get what I want, it's ok. I (hope I) will use it for the next 20 years. It's only 12,5€ per year!

Well, used Technixcs SL-1200MKII in Finland costs 500€+ so can't afford one :-/ I know it's a good workhorse..
Those Sansui speakers look so cool.. I would like some speakers like those! Hard to find in Finland tho..That's why Im leaning towards ePay. :ebay:

Yamaha receivers are cool, they were never the most popular, but I love the square knobs, they feel so good

I would recommend pairing it with some old Yamaha speakers, like the NS-200M
