Hey all! I was lucky enough to stumble across this over the weekend. An AKAI PJ-43FL
It's in nice condition with only a few little marks. All working bar needing belts replaced. Problem is there's very little info on this online. Not a very common box. Anybody have any information or thoughts about it? What sort of price tag would you put on it? Weighs a tonne and sounds amazing. Won't tell you how much I paid for it!!! :-)

Since it's not very common, there's no way to produce an accurate price estimate. Just throw it on Ebay and see what it gets. Cool spectrum analyzer by the way.

It's hard to put a price on it being that I don't think anybody seen that model before at least I haven't looks like a nice radio though.

had 2 of these and they were cheap but that was years ago, so as they say put it on ebay and see what it fetches

Decline era Akai - from around 1985. Looks quite a powerful unit - I'd guess around 15 watts RMS per channel ON AC. As this would have been intended as a indoor box, they didn't allow it to really perform with the weedy 12V DC power supply.

It's got no bling appeal although the display is nice. It's rare but that's not always a good thing. Unpopular when new plus little service information and parts support in 2017.

I'd estimate value at between $80-$120. I bet that deck would be an absolute pig to get working right!

James.... :-)

Looks good but I would say these are a hard sell.

Why would you design a box with a big LCD display and yet anologue radio tuner? Looks like a response to the Sony and JVC Heavy weights of the time.

I absolutely hate digital tuners, I always get better reception from an analog tuner, most of the older digital tuners are a big fat ****ing pain in the ass.boxes like the fh7 have shitty digital tuners as where The PC 55 has a great analog tuner .that's a nice akai hell I would jump on one for the right price.
