Hey collectors & modders, :-D

Got this near minty Toshiba WX-1, from DecentMan4You. I know you guys have had issues with this guy but this time I got a solid deal on it & they're getting hard to find if any are left at all. Overall, very clean....

All sliders are good & work smoothly..

The cassettes both work great! The only downer is the missing pitch control knob to the left of the photo

Here, even tho the pic is a bit fuzzy, you can see the large scratch in the window, directly in front of the right VU meter...

The back, top & sides are all mint looking to my eye. The chrome looks so shiny, no pitting or peeling whatsoever & the woofers, tweeters & passives are ALL in perfect shape as far as I can tell & all original...

Very nice

High quality, heavyweight box

Would be nice to see inside the speakers to see what we're dealing with in there

Love the way those needles carry the light, and are visible from far away.

I seem to remember another boomboxer or two -- probably on the former Stereo2Go website -- muttering about the Toshiba RT-S983 being underwhelming in power, subsequent loudness and so on. I also seem to remember this system having unspectacular, thirty-odd-watt specs on the rear data plate (that I can't seem to find clear shots of online). But as one can see, this big machine is still a good-looking model.

I wouldn't have minded seeing the cassette decks being modelled with an audiocassette -- or with two cassettes, one recording from the other. (After all, the gentleman did say: "The [decks for the] cassettes both work great!") Still, I appreciate the YouTube video that Cpl-Chronic affords us, with the near-four-minute clip demoing only the LINE IN mode of that respectably large, pleasingly hefty, passive-radiators three-piece stereo (that I've never handled LOL). Nice to heard the rap team Run-DMC at their King Of Rock finest. (And interesting that the Toshiba still sounded loud and clear, even though Cpl had the twin VOLUME sliders set pretty low.)

Watching the twelve-minute-plus YouTube video uploaded by DecentMan4you (aka James Pierce III, the purported seller) had me wondering which of the WX-1s in his videos he ended up selling to you. Must be the one showcased in the recent video (March 19, 2017) that I found minutes ago. Playback of the 'S983's recording deck in the 2011 video sounded as bad as my JVC's lone deck (ew).

So maybe one needn't wonder about "both work great" claims about the tape decks of our Chronic's score. And even with the faultier of the two Toshibas, I remember that Mr Pierce has some boombox-repair expertise. Maybe he fixed the decks up before shipping them out. (Shrug)

I appreciate the reminder, from the DecentMan4you video, that the Toshiba RT-S983 has chromed side latches fastening the intriguingly "busy" top electronics block to the twin, passive-radiator speaker boxes below.

And I, uh, kind of appreciate knowing how pricey the WX-1 stereo has become in mint condition, what with Mr Charles Blewett willing to pay at least seven American C-notes -- after or before shipping costs -- to have that hefty find relocated from Texas, USA to Ontario, Canada. Fewer eBay shocks that way ...

.

The main drivers are almost identical to the cs880 main drivers with only slight differences, anyhow a high quality speaker with a larger than average magnet.
