Probably nothing new for most of you hear but I've found this invaluable.
When I received my BigBen I noticed a round tube in the battery compartment,
it's a simple thin plastic sleeve that is rigid enough to keep your D cells from popping out
when you're putting them in or changing, which I find always gets me cursing when they fall out
all over the floor.

Slide your 4 or 5 D's into the magic sleeve though and they notch in perfectly stable inside your blaster and aren't falling all over the place the next time you open up the compartment.

I find this ESPECIALLY useful for the TRC-931 that stores it's hard wired power cable on the top shelf of the battery compartment. Taking it to and from work and plugging it in and out of mains power means I don't have to worry about
10 suicidal D cells ready to make a break at a moments notice.

I'm sure any thin plastic tubing could be used, and I encourage those who've not had the pleasure to make a couple up to try!

Only happy to oblige, Alvin!

As you can see, once it's in there you can slide it down towards the negative end to really 'lock'
it in place over the spring.

I always thought the tubes were a great idea. :w00t: :hmmm:
I was surprised more manufactures didn't use them.
It is much easier to keep your batteries under control.

That is definitely a great idea, Rick. Now, if we could just find a supplier for something like that. :hmmm:

After having a fight with my D's in my Dynasty, I realized how valuable something like those sleeves really are. I'm going to take a trip to the hardware store and see what I can find.....

:agree:
thanks for the idea rick -
and --then i immediately swung into action !!!

here is one of many suppliers that make these
extruded tubes --
on their chart - the 1 1/4 inch tube will work fine-
open their "thin wall" link
and then we cut it length -- 3-4-5 batteries

http://www.cleartecpackaging.com/clear- ... tubes.html
--------------------------------------------

PLUS -- for the 'roll-your-own' crowd :w00t:
i just went to my local fabric//crafts//hobby store-
and bought a sheet of clear .010" plastic--

as we speak --its been cut to a 5D cell size -
and taped up in a 3/4" size PRE_ROLL :-) :-D
to get it ready for the 1 1/4" diameter find bend-

if all that works- :-O :dunce:
pictures will be up tonight

GC is it hand made?

or did you buy it?

anyway it has to be slim right?
It came with my BigBen, and after reading other's reports I'd say it was factory issue, I didn't make it and I doubt someone else did.

Looks like Ira's got the recipe down for them, fantastic!!

They were standard issue in a few Sanyo boxes, the Big Ben and 9998 come to mind but I'll bet there were more.

ok--lets save the drum-roll
as this has to be the lowest tech mod ever posted !! :-O

but -- look -
with a few simple tools, plus some scotch tape -
and some clear (or unclear) thin plastic-

we can make our own tubes-
any size // any time
:-) :-)
