Just today started (and finished) these shelves in my work room using wood a neighbour gave me for free for firewood...decided the wood was way to good to burn so made these instead! Not even had time to put any boxes on them yet...the bottom two shelves are high enough for a J1 :-)

Will get some boxes on when I get a minute :-)

You can't get any better than free!

I like the vehicle gill in front of the fireplace, a couple of these would look good on a wall with speakers behind them (IMHO).
Free does in deed rock :-)

The grill is from a 1930's Daimler DB18...a car favoured by Winston Churchill and Indian Maharajahs...it's one of my favourite things :-)

Be sure to anchor those things like crazy! That's a long way to fall for a J1. :hmmm:

I like that painting in front of the Statue of Liberty..
Yeh no mean feat with two inch thick wood lol but worth doing. Cool pic isn't it. I actually made and hand painted the Statue of Liberty about 20 years ago!

Don't worry it's held up with not one but two bits of sticky tape :-)

I love the red background behind the shelves, plus the red carpet. That itself makes it look so royal. Gold and chrome color will also enhance the looks.

Wow, they didnt really look that big in the first pic but they really are.

Nice work and selection of radios
I guess the boxes give you the scale...yep they're huge! To fit a J1 on with room to spare shows you how big they are. Love that J1 :-)

The J1 is a freakin monster, one of the few really big black boxes that can back up its looks. Glad you still love her

There's certainly a lot of weighty boxes on those shelves and the shelves alone must also weigh quite a lot. At the risk of asking the obvious and insulting your intelligence, is the (shallow?) fire surround well secured to the wall? Usually a fire surround is fixed to a wall with only four screws to prevent it toppling forward so the screws are not normally large or heavy duty ones.
