Hey all,

Before I go tearing into my recently acquired 8585X, I just wanted to ask about the tuner dial lamp. Mine isn't working and I wondered whether it's a bulb (festoon etc) or and LED - can someone confirm please ?

Cheers !

Hi, could you fix it? did you test the bulb before replacing it? There is an adjustable resistance in gf-9191. There should be something similar in gf-8585.

It sounds like the OP is talking about a tuner "dial lamp" which is the bulb used to illuminate the dial. You are talking about the stereo indicator lamp, which is something entirely different. The video shows adjustment but it's not resistance he's measuring, even though a variable pot is being adjusted. What is measured is the frequency in hz and it (the appropriate test point) is typically adjusted to 19khz at a quiet area of the dial near 98mhz on the dial. The actual adjustment may vary depending upon the model being serviced and the instructions prescribed by the manufacturer, but the process described above usually works for almost all with IC MPX decoders.

I own a sharp gf-8585, i am working on it cause it has no output sound.
This GF-8585 has no tuner dial lamp at all.
