Hey all,
I picked up a VZ-3000 from our auction site a few weeks back. I saw it first time round about four months ago and missed bidding, so I grabbed it the next time it came up.
Cosmetically it's very good with all controls / switches etc present and correct. In terms of function though, the news is not so good. Some idiot had connected it to our 240v mains with the voltage selector set at 110v, so I'm now waiting for a local radio repair place to let me know whether it can be saved or not. They are going to run up the unit on their own power source, completely bypassing the Sharp PSU, to see if the unit has been otherwise damaged. The in-line fuse vaporised so I'm hoping this saved the rest of the unit from catastrophic damage.
I'm going to need a TT drive belt and door mech belt but the drive for the tone arms looks ok. I've got a few lamps out that need dealing with and the cassette deck also needs belts.
I'll report back once the radio shop come back to me - watch this space, I may be selling a ton of VZ-3000 spares !!!
