Hello everyone,

We are on a mission to document the classic 1970’s –80’s era cassette format, portable sound systems in a beautiful full sized color magazine featuring private collections from around the world. Highlighting top performers, lost and rare models, “How To” repair work and Boomboxes in the wild doing their thing, which is providing the sound track to our lives and sharing the music we love, with the people we care most about.

Over the past few months we have been working on creating the first ever hard copy Boombox Magazine. We have been taking pictures, documenting stories, meets, radio's, taking pictures, creating art work and designing a layout.

Well the very first issue is finally done and the wait is over. You can now order and own a real magazine dedicated to and about the radio's that we all have grown to love, talk about and share. You can head over to Boomboxmag.com and get the latest news or future issues and updates for the magazine or purchase your copy. If you would like to just get right to grabbing your copy here you go Boomboox Magazine. I hope you all enjoy and we look forward to bring you future issues.

Thanks,
BoomboxMag

On To The Second Issue
Well now that the first issue is done we are starting to work on the second one. We were out today doing some photo shoots of radios gathering content. The second issue will not be done until after the International Boombox Meet in Vegas which we will be covering in the second issue.

Blasters In The Wild
In every issue we want to do a blasters in the wild. In the first issue as you can see in this picture taken by fellow collector eldirtydino it was one blaster. We want to see your blasters in the wild. Get out there take some pictures and email them or dropbox them to us. We may do one submission or multiple submissions at one time per issue. Just remember the pictures have to be HIGH QUALITY for us to be able to use them.

Tell Us Your Stories
We are also wanting to tell your stories of how you started collecting, what was your first box, how did you get into it? Whats in your collection? If you would like your story told contact us and we can get you all the information we need to make it happen. This is about all of you, us the collectors and the radio's. And by you sending in your stories or blasters in thew wild, or pictures of your boombox meets, you are part of the magazine and making this magazine possible.

And thank you to everyone who has already grabbed their copy.

Another brilliant BB related idea - although it reinforces my instinctive feelings that, before too long, there'll be a world wide upsurge in BB interest followed by high demand resulting in a shortage or.......................BB Wars!

Some more information about The Boombox Magazine...

As we all know, the Boombox culture is only here and alive thanks to everyone who has made the personal decision to seek out these time capsules and do their best to bring them back to life. Everything related to this culture has to be created by us, since the whole thing collapsed in the late 1980's with the onslaught of the Walkman and "Personal" electronics.

Boombox Magazine was created by (my brother) DarkSideWill and myself to fill the void. Will has a background in photography and has been involved in the magazine industry for years working for American Bagger Magazine (motorcycle related) as well as his own release Urban Explorer Mag.

We felt there might be others in the Boombox community that would value a quality, color, coffee table magazine to accompany their collection. This is where the idea was born.

In the past month's, issue one was created. In an effort to get issue one out before the International Boombox meet, we chose to keep it simple documenting local collectors, meets and simple subjects. This will be expanded extensively.

Volume two will document the Las Vegas meet plus so much more. The purchase of your copy will unlock exclusive online content in the form of YouTube video's and other offers in an effort to give you the most bang for your buck.

In time the layouts will evolve and improve with lots of on location photo shoots all including Boomboxes.

This project is meant to compliment your collection and the online forums we use (including Boomboxery), not to replace them or encroach on them. Our goal is to use the BoomboxMag website to point to the purchase of the magazine, not as a forum or discussion board. You can do all that here!

Our goal is to put out a quality tangible magazine to go with your collection for the lowest possible price. As you can imagine, low volume magazine printing comes with it's cost issues. This is as close to non profit as we can possibly get. The price may vary from issue to issue depending on the volume of content but when you add up the hundreds of hours that go into making something like this, I think you will appreciate the product you will hold in your hands.

I was a little apprehensive about this original post until you chimed in, Chris. Now that I know Chris and Will are behind it I'm all for it! Ordered 2 copies!
