I'm pretty much in the dark about these but, with a bargain within grasp, I'd be tempted to carry out a search to ascertain the value, scarcity and demand for these within the enthusiast community even if I had no immediate use for them, this may turn out to be a littler earner. You've nothing to lose by looking into this.

.....................................Haven't made any recordings with them yet. Sorta just looking at'em and enjoying the sight of such rare plunder......
Dear me, that made me smile - I can understand how this feels.

I just read this post, sorry for late reply. There were Type, 1, 2, 3 and 4 tapes and Type 3 did not hang around very long, even when it was around (if you know what I mean). It is FeCr, but being Type 3 I guess you could give it a higher recording level than CrO2. I never had one, my older brother did and remember him recording on Type 2 setting on his cassette deck. You probably will not realize its capability on the setting. Perhaps a bit like recording Type 4 on Type 2 which I know many of us had done if we did not have Metal Tape selection on our decks. Nice capture to hear of so many FeCr in one place. Congrats.

Some of my Euro boxes have 3 settings: Normal, FeCr, and Cr
