Hi guys and gal! So I've got this chance to score some "new in wrapper" type III ferro chrome cassettes. I think I can get them for a killer price, like .50¢ each! Any info on this type of tape would be greatly appreciated. I have experience with type I's,II's and IV's. Each have their merritt's, just never ran into the ferro chromes before. Most of my boxes don't even have a setting for them. I see that they go for quite a bit on epay. I guess they are very rare. Well I've babbled on for long enough, whadda ya think?

I'm pretty much in the dark about these but, with a bargain within grasp, I'd be tempted to carry out a search to ascertain the value, scarcity and demand for these within the enthusiast community even if I had no immediate use for them, this may turn out to be a littler earner.  You've nothing to lose by looking into this.

Well I went and picked them up as per MyOhMy's and T-STERS logical urgings to do so. Got 10 of them suckers.Haven't made any recordings with them yet. Sorta just looking at'em and enjoying the sight of such rare plunder. That is all for now.

Yes sir T-STER. I got'em for .50 cents a piece. They are Sony FeCr 90s still mostly in the package. What I mean by that is the previous owner removed the portion of wrapper that has the little "pull tab" part. The other 90% of the wrapper is still on the tape. They have never been used. Also a note of interest on the package, the bias type is listed as medium not normal or high bias. Like Ferro or Chrome,Metal tapes respectively. I believe they are circa 1979,80 or 81. Somewhere in that time frame. Pretty cool huh? Wish I had a smart phone to post a pic for you and the rest of the class. But I don't. So if ya Google Sony FeCr 90 a picture will pop up and that's what I gots. Take care,I'm out.
