I have just started to restore a Sharp VZ3500E Vertical Record Player Stereo.
Having removed the old belts which had gone like tar and stuck to every surface. Photos show the pinch roller which had just melted! I changed the belts and got the record player and tape working, but some things are still wrong.
Record Player
Both sides play, but at different speeds.
At 45rpm Side B plays at a slightly reduced speed, and side A plays slower
At 33rpm both sides play slow.
I presume that there are pots to adjust the speed, but are they independent for each side and speed. Can anyone tell me where the adjustment pots are?
Tape
A few problems here.
Rewind only works for a short moment and then cuts out
When on play, spool is not moving the tape and pinch roller is gathering the tape (was working before I put the front case back on (will check the belt has not come off).
I am not really familiar with how the tape mechanisms work and which gears operate for each sequence, so if anyone can simplify this for me that would be great.
