Hi Guys,

Well the local Brisbane Boomboxery members got together yesterday for another meet - unfortunately we had a couple of members pull out due to work commitments but we did manage to get 4 members together for a great get together.

NZ member Evan was in town briefly and decided to join us and check out some super nice boxes, some of which he hadn't seen in his neck of the woods.

Dan brought his C100F, GF-777, NIB General Bolt Box, JC2000 Master Blaster.

Brian brought his simply massive Fisher PH-480 beast box and his high end Akai 3 piece.

Even Evan, our international guest managed to bring a box: :-) A locally sourced Sanyo 920 project box with a very solid tuner and amps - got some bodywork & cleaning up to do but it will be a solid box in the end - looking forward to seeing the big Sanyo when he's finished!

Here are a few of my crappy pics - you know how it is, you get a bit carried away with talking and blasting: :-) View attachment 27748View attachment 27749View attachment 27750View attachment 27751View attachment 27752View attachment 27753View attachment 27754View attachment 27755View attachment 27756View attachment 27757View attachment 27758

The other members we're taking plenty of pics so you should see a stack more pics posted up soon!

Thanks again guys for a great meet - next time we'll do some heavy hitter outdoor blasting bayside!!

James.... :-)

cheers for a solid radio-athon. yes 90% of them iv never seen in the flesh. and now most are def on my wish list.
i thought i had some clean boxes, never seen 1 out of a box. the Bolt was amazing. can only hope ill find something like that 1 day.
i seem to be gathering my Sanyo MX series from top to bottom, the 720 is very nice. must have 1, one day. but yes my 920 got a few issues, more than iv ever had to try fixing yet so ill be taking my time to get it right.
i got few snaps but all the same really.DSC02229.JPGDSC02232.JPGDSC02230.JPGDSC02234.JPG

Geez! Some quality in that room.
Great that you guys met. Wish we could get some southern UK collectors to meet one weekend.

The General looks fantastic and the Sanyo 720 well .....is there a prettier box?

I got a 920k from Australia and it was 2 band with the blue tuner dial. The one in the picture has a silver dial so 4band?
Did you have both versions in Aus?

I'll explain how the Yamaha PC-8 performs but remember that it is running Hitachi drivers as the originals were toast. The TRK-9150 drivers are only rated for 7 watts, 11 watts RMS Max. The Yammy pumps out 15 watts per channel so I don't really like cranking the Yammy full blast so the Hitachi drivers don't burn out!

The 5 band equaliser is set permanently in the 'smilie face' setting. The bass and highs are strong and clear - the RX-DT680 has deeper bass but the Yammie is louder, has superior mids and highs. Incidently, the original Yammie drivers had deeper bass than the Hitachi drivers as the Hitachis have much stiffer cones.

The tuner is awesome - no need to ever raise the antenna. The RCA line in is sensitive enough to only require the Iphone volume to be set at 2/3rds.

Overall, it's a great box for long listening sessions but with an 80 watt draw, it's my most thirsty box that will drain 10 Ds in short order! But wow, it'll sound great outdoors before the batteries die!
