As for me, I am just a tone chaser searching for the best sound to listen to. I plan to buy 2-3 of the best units I can find from decades 80's and 90's. Then I will be happy.
I have good memories from when my friends and I were cranking those 90's boomboxes and it seems to me that the new models are lacking in the "feel" department. Indeed, I am maybe bias because I grew in the 90's. My personal taste are modern rock like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and I am also open (sadly) to the dance mix 94-95. But like most of you I think, I don't like today's music and prefer anything else like oldies or rock n' roll. That's about it. I am searching for a specific Sony model but I dont want to address it publicly because it is extremely hard to find one and I don't want to participate in increasing the price of those gems. I am always looking at site like ebay and local sellers.
