I have for years wanted a jukebox to remind me of the smoky pubs I used to frequent in the 80's but could never justify the high cost or the space. Well I finally managed a way around the cost and the space! The space is easy...just buy a bigger house...this is in the process at the moment and fingers crossed. The cost was not so easy...spent many months watching stuff on eBay until I spotted the one and pounced!

Trouble is I had to do a 350 round trip to Scotland in a day to get it. It was from a bloke from not the swankiest of areas where everything is a bit run down and cheap so the price reflected the area. It wouldn't fit in my car so bizarrely a near neighbour who I'd met once lent me her company car, a big Mitsubishi 4x4. Better still she wouldn't even let me put any diesel in it as she would just claim it from her company! Needless to say I bought her a nice present :-)

Anyway, returned after a long journey with this, an empty cabinet to pimp out with amp, speakers, lights, Bluetooth etc for the princely sum of £40! Frickin awesome. This is as I got it, need to clean it, respray some parts etc before starting the modding. Hope you like it :-) :-) image.jpegjukebox.jpeg

I've always wished for WANTED a jukebox but never really had the space at the right time. I think you've done
exceptionally well this time, Northerner, exceptionally well. That really is a handsome jukebox, most kids
these days have only ever seen a little CD selection type box on a wall.

As tor the mods - it has to be lights, lights and more lights!! :-D

It would be a dream to take a drive to Scotland to haggle with radio sellers in neighborhoods.
Great score in any hood!

Theres gotta be a way to actually use the keys to play mp3s.

Looks like 50 selections,so 50 walkmans should fit..haha

WOW! That is so awesome! I've always wanted the older styled ones. They're the coolest. Their speakers had that deep, warm sound to them. As for upgrades, Maybe swap the traditional lighting to the more vibrant & intense colored LEDs, for more visual impact. :jawdrop:

When I was a kid, I remember watching those cool triangular shaped lights from the 60s-70s Juke boxes. I wonder if replacing them with LEDs would take away from the magic. :hmmm:

The dark panels in the middle are glass...the coloured areas light up when backlit so it's not affected by the type of light just the brightness. The top panel where the selections are is white and again it's just backlit so not affected by the light type. Finally the little red numbers at the very top are also backlit with little white bulbs. So I'm going for authentic white backlighting throughout rather than introducing disco LEDs. I'll likely use white LEDs just because they're cheap to run and don't heat up as I'll likely put them on even when not listening to it. Will post finished pics once I get time to sort it :-)

Man oh Man!

That is so BADASS! One day :-/

You're going to have to do a full build thread on this (I know, I know "It's not a boombox!" :annoyed: )

I can't wait to see what you do with this....

Oh the beers that have been spilled, the coins dropped in, the cheesy pick up lines tried out (and since is was in Scotland) the fist fights that happened all around THIS Jukebox!

I agree. Keep it as stock looking, but with brighter LED backlighting that uses less power. Still, it's an excellent piece. And, to expand on what Chris mentioned, The stories this could tell from back in the day.
