Hi,I'm working on a sausage box or smaller Berechea Fisher.
This thing works and both decks have power but still have to get belts for it.
But the issue I'm having is that when I go on FM stereo it makes a feedback type of sound like a higher pitch howl or lower squeal, you can still hear the music and all but this only happens on FM stereo or it's a bit less only when I hit play on 2nd.deck.
FM mono,Am,and line in are perfect!
This thing is exceptionally loud and is bi-amped and bi-wired! Only 24 watts draw but it cranks like its twice that.
I'm about to open her up and I'm thinking it could be a bad ground, checking all decks grounds and circuits.
Any suggestions? This thing is pretty nice and has surround button and rear speaker outputs!! So it's kind of rare.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.😎

Left deck you can hear motor when hitting function buttons.
The right deck you can hear motor when I hit functions but I get the same feedback sound but less pronounced than the FM stereo.
Going to try batteries and see if it does the same.

Tested it on batteries,it's the same issue.
When I hit FM Steteo it does get a bit louder with some kind of feedback distortion but it's not horrible.

Opened this bitch up and I found that the tuner board really isn't positioned in there the best but it's all there, but still on FM stereo there's some high pitch loudness coming out of it,it's like it's boosted with distortions when I hit FM stereo.
I put a test robber band in tape 1 as I'm out of belts right now and there is no distortion on tape and it gets loud, damn this thing is powerful!
There is no more distortion on Tape 2 either as there was a little before but now that's good.
Deck wasn't tightened down gourd.
There is a ground prong thing like you plug the antenna into but there is no where in the back anywhere where a ground lead would come from so I put one to the tape deck screw which has a ground lead into it.zno difference.
I then touched each component in the tuner and when I touched a resistor I think it was or a small cap it almost went away!
I couldn't pull it out all the way to see as the tuner string was on and dint want to restring.

On line in all great, needs belts,is great on tape, great on AM,,great on FM mono, only when I hit FM Stereo.
I just need to pull the tuner board out and check the tesustors and such as I believe I have a bad component.
The tuner is off quite a bit, 97 is like 100.5.
This is the only other issue I can think of.
Surround is good, haven't checked those 2 RCA jacks for the rear speaker yet.
Photos soon.
It's long as a 777 or longer! Mid sized Berechea!😮😎
Anyone hear have any ideas,FM
Stereo decoder circuit? Bad resistor or componantI figure.

Well I'm not a tech. master at all,but I'd spray wash the PCB with ECG Products electronic wash. Then deoxit the record bar and work it 30 or 40 times.Hopefully I've been of some help to you. This is a pretty good box, dual cassette and line in.Super wide though. The boombox eqivaient of a Weiner dog,did you also notice how everything inside says Sanyo on it?

Hi,actually I didn't see that but I'll check again when I open it up again., I may try the board thing.
The record bar won't be a factor here but I' firmly believe it's truly a tuner issue.
I just measured,it's longer than the 777-30" wide!😮
I'll throw up a photo,the thing is a beast.😮😎📟📻💳

Yep,that's her.I've got the same one Fisher PH-W803BA.Paid $20.00 for it at Goodwill.Tape counter belt for deck 2 was gooified. All other belts were in the limp rubber band stages.I too am waiting for belts to show up,any day now.Replaced the woofers in mine with ones from a Panasonic rx-ds620.Now she almost thumps. Also put some polyester batting from one of my pillows into the speaker boxes. That also seems to have helped.Still have an annoying vibration on left side,I think its that plastic strip between the woofer and midrange & tweeter.Good luck with your fixes and let us know how she turns out.

Thanks everyone, this is worth fixing up,just some belts and I'll look into the tuner later.
Have you tried the rear speaker section?
Just curious how it sounds with 2 extra speakers for a total of 6!😎

Not yet as I don't have a set to plug in,but I'm hopeing to find something to plug in that rocks.Rca jack speakers are rare birds. How do you like the stereo wide button?I think it sounds good on very few songs.I guess I'm spoiled from listening to ambience on my pannys.Still think this Fisher is pretty cool though.
