I need help please if anyone has any info..i have a problem with the cassettes playing and stuck on very high speed,there is 2 v-resisters on the main board next to where the decks plug in,wondering if they are linked to the decks and could need replacing,i have the box apart and dont want to put it back together until i get it fixed,so any help would be much appreciated,thank you..

yes sorry it is a Wheely,well an elta,i have since read through the wheely threads and as i susspected the adjustable resistors relate to the deck speed,i did try adjusting them but nothing happened,so is it them thats the issue or could it be the motor ? i will have to get my magnifier on the pots to see what ohm they are..
Have you tried adjusting the motor speed through the hole at the back of the motor....?
I had a problem like that with one of my Hitachi and it was rectified when I turned the motor speed adjust and brought it back to the original position. It was weird!!

aunfortunately i dont think that would solve it because they are running a lot faster than that,these are running real fast,not slightly fast,there is something seriously wrong going on,yes i'm hoping someone will be able to solve it,i may look at the adjustable pots first before anything else..
i have solved the problem now,the 2 vr's on the main board did nothing,so what i did was i soldered a vr potentiometer across the H-L on the motor,but only thing is i didn't see what ohm it was,i tried a few different ones until i found the right one that worked,only other problem is now,the pinch rollers in both decks are dented,they feel like they have been pressing on the capstan,like its been in play mode for years while switched off,so now the sound is a bit warbly..but overall i'm pretty pleased with it..

But some pinch rollers out there needs spacers because they are not wide enough to fit the holding assembly.baddboybill said:

I think this is a common problem on these units, because the donor decks I swapped in, had a second set of wires to the power on the motor, I wish I knew where they went to, so I could rig it up the way the last guy did.

I have tried running the motor straight off power, jumping the high and low on the switch, which will drop the speed for 4x to 2x, but that's not right.
It sucks, because the fresh decks are bright and clear and as loud as the radio. I suspect they would sound nice.
