Sharp GF 777 VU meter and auto stop malfunction!

1. One of my Sharp GF 777 left VU meter works once in a blue moon. I've done extensive switch cleaning and all on this unit. Checked the lead wire connections to the VU meter and all looks good to me. I wonder what is causing this issue?

2. The left cassette deck auto stop mechanism doesn't work. Deck has new belts, lubed, and cleaned all idler wheel rubber with isopropanol. The right deck mechanism works fine.
What could have went wrong here?

Royce you should try and reverse the meter connections to see if there's a difference.
