Making Replacement Battery Compartment Covers

On the forum I've seen that several replacement battery compartment covers have been made to great effect. At first glance, this may look simple enough but how have you made/fabricated off-set locating lugs (usually at the bottom) and the securing/fastening clips/catches which re often flexible/'springy' in the original covers? Stock cover clips sometimes look a bit of a nightmare to refabricate in plastic, how have you overcome this? Pics please, if you can!

sometimes i use a small clip from those picture frames where you twist the clip to remove the back panel to insert the picture. i put them on the back panel of the boombox to hold the battery cover closed.
