Hi,

I have been trying to figure out where to get replacement speakers for my Sharp, well brand is not so important as this is just generally speaking.

At radiomuseum the speakers for the sharp GF-5757 are stated as being:

Ø 12 cm = 4.7 inch

Power out

9.6 W (unknown quality)

120mm = 4,72"

The amp IC is 4 Ohm

I really have no idea where to find a 4,7" speaker unit in europe.

I am guessing something like this would work? What do you think?
https://www.hifisound.de/en/Do-it-yourself-Products/Speaker-Drivers/Fullrange/Fostex-FE-126-En-Fullrange.html

Datasheet:
https://www.hifisound.de/out/media/pdf.php?r=JmWNZ9RsVBqS%2FIG7lwzNFjdp2Z9zYzTQgUkQ6Riv4jjZs7o%2BMCiVXboZGzzz14xvBf7q5LizLYG0E0oA4Ky51Q%3D%3D.pdf

I know that the magnet size will maybe be deeper but It wont be a problem.
Only problem is that the impedance is not matching i.e. the speaker i linked to is 8 ohm and the amp is 4.

I was thinking that this thread could be a good reference for finding replacement speakers.

Im hijacking this thread!!

So.. I bought a really beat up Goldstar TSR-800. When i listened it, it didn't sound right so i opened it. The speakers were looking so bad, full of holes and somebody tried to to repait them but.. Didn't work! The speakers were 8" and 3,2 Ohm.

Now i need new speakers. 3,2 ohm is hard to find so im thinking 4 ohm and high sensetivity. Im going to use this boomer outdoors when skateboarding, drinkin beer etc.

So would these speakers do the job?
https://www.jensentone.com/mod_series/mod_8_20
https://www.jensentone.com/speaker/spec/45

They are 93,2 sensetivity, 20w rated power (music power 40w) and 67 cm deep. They can't produce low bass (only like 110Hz?), but would they satisfy me? I could get 2 speakers for 45 euros. I live in Europe Finland so buying from USA is expensive.

Or these?

Sensitivity 102dB
Frequency Response 100Hz-11KHz
Impedance:4 ohms
Top-mount depth 2.5" thats around 6,35 cm

Can anyone help me? :angelic:

I need a shallow speaker or should i just go for top-mount? :w00t:

Is 100hz low enought? I usually listen hiphop etc, so pretty bassy
Can i use guitar speakers like that Jensen? Have anyone tried?

I like the look and specs of the first set of speakers. The speakers are high sensitivity and are designed to be driven by a small amp. The smaller sized magnets should make it easier for installation clearances too plus you won't be increasing the overall weight of the box too much.

Good luck,

James.... :-)
