JVC PC-V2, How to open the casing?

Hi All,

I've acquired a JVC PV-V2 and I can't seem to open the box. I've removed the four screws from each corner of the rear casing along with the fifth screw located in the battery compartment. I can only separate the front from the back by about 1/2" at the most (see image, below), it feels like there's something else holding both sides of the casing together.

I've tried separating the two sections with the cassette door and CD door in an open and a closed position to no avail. I've no Service Manual as yet but I do need to get inside the BB to a) clean out piles of dust and b) replace/renovate the tape levers next to the cassette door. Any help will be very much appreciated!

Yes. I noticed this during my attempts but left this one untouched because of a feeling that it wouldn't come into play when opening the BB. After all, the screw type is different, screw housing is different and it had the appearance of an afterthought!

However.............since you've suggested this I've gone back for a closer look and found the same arrow marking as with the other casing screw but I didn't notice this arrow at the time. I'm glad I returned for second, closer look now! Oh well, off we go again...................

best thing to do when removing the screws is to make a diagram of the hole locations on a piece of card board and stick the screws into the card board so you can put the same ones back where they came from . it's time consuming and i only do this if the box is complicated to work on .

i had a pc v3 but ii never opened it up . wish i still had that box , it was a nice unit.

My, Oh My, that's an excellent idea and not too much trouble at all!

Update:

I removed the screw identified by JVC Floyd and it was indeed the screw that enabled the BB to be opened so many thanks, JVC Floyd for the help.
