Sanyo MX-920 FM tuner and deck advice needed

Hi Guys,

I've got a members Sanyo MX-920 here for a re-belt but it has other issues.

The first issue is that the deck operates fine (it actually doesn't need belts) in that all functions work quickly, quietly etc. The issue is that it has absolutely no sound from the right channel.' The left channel sounds really nice. All controls are static free. On line in, the sound is very strong from both channels.

The 2nd issue is with the FM tuner. When you first fire the unit up, it works perfectly with stereo lock on working fine.' However, after a couple of minutes, the stereo light starts to flash on & off and the sound becomes staticky with the sound dropping in and out even in mono mode. The other bands are working fine. The weird bit is that when the tuner starts playing up, the FM stereo light stays lit even when you are on tape mode, line in etc. When on tape mode or line in, the stereo light even stays lit when the tuner is set to AM!

When you first turn on the unit with the FM tuner working normally, the stereo light doesn't stay lit when on another mode.

Any ideas?

Were you able to fix it James?

I had a similar 920 that while playing FM the led would go out after a while. I cleaned my stereo pot and it seemed to do trick. But it sounds like yours might need replacing
