I have a Victor RC-550
AM works fine FM just static
Anyone have any ideas
Is this a problem that is usual on the 550
and could point me to where I should be looking
I feel it must be a common problem as
I just recently decided to buy another one and change over the boards
simple fix
Got it today
Same problem no Fm just static :bang: :bang:
So now I have 2 Victor RC 550's with no FM
Help

I would like to first say that someone else with much more knowledge than me told me to look at the transistors
so i fee a little uneasy explaining but hope this can help
First thing I did is surf the net on how to test a transistor
then opened up the box
photo 4.JPG
There are 6 transistors on the tuner board
photo 2.JPG

the one that I found to be bad is marked here
but I would recommend replacing them all while you have it open
and the iron on
all of the pin's are labeled on the board I think they were all
Base Collector Emitter
Now that you have watched the video you should know how to check them
Put meter on resistor mode
Red on the base should get a reading on C and E
if you dont get a reading its bad
Then black on base and C&E no reading
if you do get a reading its bad

then my second the same transistor was bad so i think it may be a good place to start
but maybe it was just a fluke
