I'm paying back a debt to this GZ guy for saving my C100 from damage I did to it :bang: :

http://boomboxery.co...?hl=+ruin +door

He has some excellent blasters but they all need TLC to make them sound right and function enough to have clear reliable listening.

Because he helped me with that C100 door I felt obligated to pick up a couple loads of his blasters to do a little detoxing, cleaning, antennas, repairs, and some bonus upgrades.

On this list:

- Clairtone 20/20 (antennas, tear down for deox) DONE!

- JVC RC-M70 (OG antennas/bases, tear down for deox, FM button broke, missing handle mount, screws missing, + bonus) DONE!

- Clairtone C100 (dead, complete board swap?) NEXT

- Sharp GF-777 (tear down for deox)

- Realistic SCR-8 (maybe - not sure what for)

- Toshiba S90 (maybe - for broken deck door, deox)

So far I was able to get the 20/20 and M70 rocking again and added some LEDs to the M70 VUs. They are on all the time when the box is powered on, but then turn off when you hold down the dial lamp button and the dial lamp turns on.

Some pics!

Got my boomers back!
Met Joe at Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee today....I have know idea if he made it home safe. One does not usually leave the LB tour in driving condition.
What can I say about this guy that all of you don't already know. He's just a selfless standup guy. Can't thank him enough for getting these bad boys back to working order.
They sound absolutely amazing.
The 20/20 has never sounded this good. Its unbelievable. The m70 sound is absolutely amazing. And how about those beautiful blue LEDs....he just did those on his own...didn't even ask for them. Who does shiat like that!?
Thanks again Joe, you've made my year! Its like I just got two new boomers!
I know my payment probably wasn't enough but theres gonna be plenty more of that next time....and whatever else you want.
Give this man Legend status!

Now, onto the beast. The mega beast. The Master of BLASTERS!

Clairtone C100

Powers on, but otherwise totally dead  .

Hopefully some of these replacement parts I gathered for you will get this blaster blasting again :drunk:. There aren't Belgian Biscuits in this box

7 months later, time to dig into the C100 !

I tore my ACL in July so everything has been on the back burner. Had surgery late October. Healing, therapy, and holidays have taken priority.

You really have to be in the right mood to dive into a C100 teardown, today just felt like the right day. I labeled the wires, swapped amp board, swapped main vol/bal/bass/treb board. Have everything back together but refuse to connect the power until I get some things figured out.

Got the wire situation figured out with someone's help.

It has a hum coming through the speakers and headphones. The curcuits seem to be motorboating also through the speakers and headphones. I get pretty clear even sound until I hit #5 (dot below 10) on the volume. Picks up stereo FM, line in, all good just sounds like crap over 5.

I suspect these replacement boards I got need a cap replacement and/or amp ics.

Better than the paperweight I started with, ha!

My baby is alive!!!
Joe you are one hell of a guy. Your time and effort is appreciated.
Can't believe there is actual music coming out of that thing!
Sure hope we can get her back to her former glory...so sad what happened to her. She used to pound the streets like a true blaster should!

Thanks dudes. At the point I got it there was nothing to lose. I was hoping for any kind of improvement and even that video is a world of difference than it was. Right now I will tinker with some things and see if I can get the sound to stop popping and going crazy. Maybe clean the record bar, deox from inside the radio, etc..... there is hope!
