From what I have read, the Yamaha speakers from this were not offered in the USA. Strange.

Just picked up the component setup and these monster huge speakers from a rummage sale. The guy bought this in Japan in the 80's while he was in the military. They then moved to Hawaii and now they have been in Wisconsin the past 6 years.

Kenwood
DP-560 Compact disc
KX-96W Double cassette deck
KC-206 Control amp
KM-206 Power amp
KT-76 Synth tuner

Yamaha
NS-9595 Speakers

That is a Yammy designation for sure and looks like these were branded Yammy.

I just passed on a set of very similar Kenwood KL-700X that were beat up and a hole puched in a woof , and just saw a pair of Pioneer CS-903 of the same ilk. Big Kabookie speakers! The Kenwoods and Pioneers have LED meters on them.

Pic, man, PICS, lol.

Had that amp combo about a year ago for a bit, and decent sounding kit.

SCORE.

Oh yeah, pics please.

Here is the set.

I have the speaker covers but a cat tore them up.

They are damn huge! No pretty lights on this series. The gold dust caps are coooool.

Something is wonky with the receiver so I'll need to hook up the speakers to my house stereo.

Speaker grill frames are ok and the Yamaha emblems are still on them.

That amp is no chump. Its like 150wpc. And it lights up real nice. Speakers are very efficient. I bet they pound

They'd look great in a DIY Box!! :breakdance:

Doesn't it just **** you when people (kids) push in the speaker caps!! My brother in law brought his kids around a while back and the little bastards managed to push in the caps of my hifi speakers and also destroyed the tweeters cones too!! :bang:

Yeah kids need to keep their grubby hands off speakers.

I still couldn't get this system to run at full output. Something is going on.

They see them (dust caps) as bubbles to pop I think. Even had a puppy bat one in on a Klipsh KG4 passive radiator, :annoyed:

Joe, I had to replace my speaker outputs in the amp and all was good. Do you have another amp and pre to cross test and narrow down source of issue?

I did just hook up the speakers to my living room stereo, they hammer so hard the speaker boxes shuffle across the hardwood floor! Hhahaha the boxes aren't built fantastic but they are just as heavy as other veneer boxes of the era.

Only problem is the voice coils on the mid range speakers are shot. I originally thought these would be great for a DIY setup, but now I kind of want to restore them and refinish the grills. I will try the tape method to pop out the dust caps, and I really love the way these look. Wife hates them of course, too bad.

I don't have another way to test the Kenwood gear. Duckman, you had a similar Kenwood system?

joe what size are the mids?.

also you can order replacement dust caps for the woofers on ebay for a few dollars that will pretty much match up to the original look .
you just peel of the old ones carefully and glue on a new on in it's place. if you want just let me know the size and i'll find you a set.
