I've decided that I'm going to take my Panasonic RX-DT680 to an audio guy I know to do the line-in mod that's been posted on this forum. I thought while it was apart, I'd get him to take a look at the tape deck. Like most of them, it doesn't work. I found out it wasn't working the hard way (tried to play, then didn't) and the tape got jammed in there. Some brute force got the tape out - but also pulled the spindle out of place
I pulled it apart today to check if I could see what exactly the problem is - and to be honest, I couldn't really work it out. It doesn't look like any of the mechanism is broken, but I just can't get it to sit in place properly again. There seems to be a spring that sits behind the spindle and I'm guessing that the spindle should lock in place somehow...?
While it was apart, I checked and confirmed that the belts have had it. The guy I'm taking it to says he keeps a fair range in stock - so who knows...?
I'd appreciate it if anyone has any ideas on what's needed to lock the spindle back in place? I've attached some pictures...
Thanks
