It's the jvc 550, it's one of the ugliest looking things iv'e ever seen :yes: I know this box has it's following but that does nothing to persuade me in anyway. What are them awful roll bars all about on the sides? they look like some kind of support bars for the disabled, (not meant to offend). And it gets worse, it looks like a tractor from the front, god I hate that box with a burning passion :lol: 550.jpgtractor.jpg

^ I feel the same way. I'm a symmetry freak so the RC-550 really bugs me. I have yet to hear one that even sounds good......

Why build such a high-quality box and not give it any tweeters?

And they covered the bass ports with metal grills to trick people into thinking it DOES have tweeters

Plus, those grills look too big next to the small woofers.........It looks like a dude with a top hat, like this:

Hey I don't mean to offend anyone here JC, sorry if you feel that way. My Philips has been dissed many times and I never take offence. Maybe this topic should be deleted before it causes any bad feelings.

I have seen/heard 4 of them. All conditions and the elusive SILVER version. Same, same, same. Big, yeah. Lopsided, hell yeah.

It doesn't stand up to what JVC stands for. I don't know why they sound strange to me.

If he was dissin YOUR 550 then that wouldn't be cool...but everyone is allowed to speak their mind here. Obviously he's not the only one that feels that way.
People call Lasonics cheap and discolites gaudy all the time.
I'm sure nobody's feelings are getting hurt here, homie.

JVC RC-550JW is a gorgeous box, just as beautiful as C-100F!
If you are not impressed with the sound, what are you comparing it to..an M90?
It's a MONO box with a 10" woofer, nuff said..
A couple months ago I hooked both of mine up together and blasted some Bassnectar through em, was rockin the house down! :breakdance:

You guys hate them because they are different, but that is the reason why I love em.. :cool:

I don't like the sound of the RC-550, then it kind of set me off to pick it apart from that point.

I would love to hear one that rocks man! The ones I got to hear all seemed to have a real flat EQ sound. Not sure why.

Or send it my way. I haven't seen one in person but would like to say I had/have one. I personally like the looks, but I understand it looks off, as do many monos. But I picture it sometimes how it would look as a Stereo. I don't like the looks of almost all monos, but this one... I just do.

EDIT: My bad, I looked it up, I thought it was actually two 550's, but it was a custom he designed to make look like two 550's might look. I still love it though, and it still made me change my view on the 550.
