The parking lot video seems a lil better than this vid..(if its real)
I can't knock the dudes hustle, obviously he's trying to make an actual boom"box" for today's consumers..
Color would have to be painted over if I had one, though I know 1 member who goes bananas for "Kawasaki green" on everything! Lol

'kin midrange-free zone! But hey, it's bogie green and bogie green's good, right?

As for plastic crap, he clearly never saw or heard a Hacker SP80, an all wood cased (apart from the speaker frets and the dial plate) box that would kick the arse of his slimline toolchest and then stamp on it as the green thing lay dying in the street!
Yeah he seemed upset by your comments. Some people have no sense of humour.

You'd think a Boombox forum would be the place to launch a modern interpretation of the street blaster..... Well with members responses like these, I can see why he bypassed Boomboxery.com

The guy is making a modern, updated Boombox in the US and you guys say you don't like the colour?

At least he's out there blasting the thing, not hiding it away in a loft somewhere.

I say good on him, maybe his next model will have all the classic eighties chrome etc.

James, prepare to be flamed! :-) :-) :-)

back in the 80's we called these "fad's"
i guess they still exist . lets see where the dude is in 6 month , my guess = long gone.

i mean if it was a 69 hemi cuda that color would kick ass but not on a radio.
as far as the tech , i really don't see anything supernatural.
as far as giving heat , you gotta take it as well which almost every person here has done.

Big arse boomboxes roaming the streets were a fad too and guess what, they died out. These new builders are trying to bring these monsters back to the mainstream - let's encourage these guys. Heck, maybe one day they'll turn their attention to making something old school looking running a pair of 10s with 100watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms at 0.3% THD running on Lithium Polymer cells!!!

I am sorry but a box needs chrome, big knobs, toggles, blinky lights, and big speaker rings.

I'm sticking with the theory - that the same alpha male types that were into the biggest and baddest Boombox they could find were overtaken by Car Audio Systems. (At least my generation and I'm 38). I had 10s, 12s, high powerd Amos, tweeters, etc. It gave me the same feeling as walking down the street with a boomer.

Is that an Incredible Hulk lunch box?

All jokes aside. Worthy effort. Needs more style. Chrome. Larger components. Better and smaller badges. It can only get better, right?

I think his effort is pretty legit and even if he was an idiot, which probably noone around here can tell, there's no need to bash him for trying. I mean let's face it: it's probably got more power than any classic boombox, it's probably better built than any classic boombox. And unlike many other modern approaches it's properly square. And if you don't like lime green (it's really not pukish green or I don't know what you guys are puking), there's plenty of other colors to choose from.

There have been waaay worse tries of bringing back classic boomboxes with a modern approach. And yes, I'm missing the big woofers with chrome caps and speaker rings as well. But if it wasn't insanely expensive, it'd give it a chance.
