hello dudes, back from hell.

hey opende my box , a while a go and im trying to understand why tapes wont run.

i opened it and it has belts.

they dont seem very loose.

i guess its the motor is shot, or else no current is flowing to it,

but i think it is shot.

pictures follow of restoring process so far:

Disconnect from power source. Get a 9 volt dc adapter. Run 2 leads from it to the pos. and neg. of the motor respectively. If it does n`t spin, it`s cooked. If it does spin, clean all contacts where the mechanical mechanism of the various tape operations may activate various switches, they are about 2 cm long and are brass in color.

yo dudes.

thanks bro for the tip,

just been back from there.

no, the ENGINE has a DRIVER .

choo choo.

1st

a belt was twisted, so it wouldnt run, the motor would stick.

2nd that belt is loose

doesnt rotate the little rubber wheel that pulls the tape low down.

3rd the main belt,

i mean the PLAY one, is loose, so when i put tape in,

it doesnt move.

but without tape all operations are GO.

will just check for audio , and i will finish.

so thats bout it.

thanks .

reports as follow:

STARDATE 9145235.546456

all is ok.

DAMAGE REPORT:

1 - I pulled two little wires while taking the deck out.

I almost lost my mind.

since they are short i know their final location... ( not 100 % sure yet )

i must resolder them later.

2 - as said before the belts are wack.

i think i will buy all of them later.

RECONNECTED MODEL 8190 E PERDISCO FROM BRAND HITACHI,

TO CHECK FUNCIONALITY...

ALL SYSTEMS ARE OK.

PROCEED with RECONSTRUCTION.

:agree:

i hope i dont do anything :dunce:

well, its just a piece of ELECTRONICS....

NOT HUMAN.

LETS ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok bro. yeah im working on it.

all cleaned up, but got some minor issues inside.

electric stuff, am working it out.

the tape belts, gonna buy after the electric part is sorted.

it sounds great btw.

really really good i mean.

like and oldschool blaster should, and its pretty darn loud.

not even driven it full range yet.

have a good one

i finally ended trying to repair the boombox.

i could not do it, even though it seems something simple.

when i turn the volume up, it gets all muffled and disappears.

it works fine at low levels though.

i just have no more time to spend on this project.

so i guess ill put this radio for sale.

( even though i am really fond of it, i like this model ).

so it seems this wont by my first WORKING box after all

:-)

you already messed up your first box? ok did you find out about the 2 wires if same color might be from a microswitch if shielded probably mic or heads , if from the board you have to look carefully to any small hairlike wire sticking out of a hole that mifgt be were it goes

:)

yeah i found out a bout those 2 wires. :-)

no, i didnt mess it up. the issue was already there,

when i tested it louder.

im working with the original seller for a refund,

as he was very honest and hadnt noticed the radio was not funtioning right.

its a pity, but im ok with that.

might as well end up selling it here for parts, or on ebay.

cheers,

Don't lose hope Eldorado. Sorry, I can't offer any help, but I really want this box to work for you.

hello friends,

ive been around my box a bit today, and i tested lots of stuff on it.

ive tested all the big caps on the amp board, the out transistors,

and some small caps on the board.

im thinking it might be the power amp ( hitachi HA1932 if i remember correctly )

but i cant test it...

the syntoms are these:

when i turn up the audio past 1/3, the audio gets very muffled and ends up being silent.

( and the battery meters also go to half , almost to none )

i ve tested the Power Supply, and its ok.

I ve tested with an external 15 amp PS, and still the same.

All ins Work, like all radio bands,

phono.

it only happens when i turn it up.

any ideias, or more than ideias,

anyone had any similar problems.

:-)

cheers

i added a small video of it working so you check out

working correctly ( at 1/3 volume as specified )

i think it is a wiring short, bad solder or crack in the board. my aiwa was doing the same thing. Low volume OK, high volume bad distortion and popping sounds. i would really check the wires, and even check the continuity from where the power comes into the board. start checking from point to point and maybe you can find a bad solder or crack in the board. See if you can't find it, it will make you very happy and excited if you do...

i think you got something going on there.

tomorrow might take it for some more tests.

(another note. just finished watching the original ' gone in sixty seconds ' , for the second time, was great)
