I just got a 9494x and I love it. One issue I am having is the left slider is producing no sound. If I move the left slider it adjusts the right channel! If I move the right slider it adjusts the right channel.

Know the crazy part, I put headphones in the front jack and everything is fine!? Left and right work as normal. Crazy!
I do know I need to deoxit all buttons and sliders. All sliders feel tight. I do not know if that is normal or not but all sliders work fine except sound issue I just explained, just tight.

Please help!

I'm just guessing, but I suspect that someone rewired your speakers to account possibly for a blown speaker. So perhaps both speaker channels outputs are being diverted to one speaker. The headphone jacks intercepts the speaker outputs before it gets to the speakers and diverts the signals to the headphones and that's possibly why it sounds normal in that mode.

Are both speakers working. The volume sliders can wear out. The rec volume ones are interchangeable might be worth a try?

I thank you all for your opinions! I wish someone on this site repaired members radios, That would be great.

Yes, all speakers work hopey.

Great advice Norm!

Agreed Bill!

Just realized hopey not sure if all speakers work, not tested. But if it works normal with headphones plugged in (sliders), would that not mean that the sliders are working ok?

Hmmm... Could that be that the 9494 has got a connectors for external speakers? If so, please check them, as they can also oxydize and one speaker could have the negative wire routed through the connector, and since it is rusty/failed, it routs the current to the another speaker, possibly producing such strange behavior.
By the way, that could also go for the headphone connector. Please clean the connectors and their contacts, especially those that make contact when there is no headphones/speakers plugged in.
