I have wanted to get a mighty M-90 for
Quite a wile. I have a M-70. I did see one
On E-Bay last week. I put in a higher bid then
I had wanted to. I figured I would be outbid.
But I ended up being the winning bidder.
The seller claims it is in great working
Condition all around ( tape deck radio )

Cosmetically it has a dent and some scratches.
All dials look good .
Of course it ended at the hefty price of $ 1236.35.!!
I expressed some concerns to the seller .

I assume the price for a M-90 offered for sale in this
Community would be less .

He wants to chat and tell me specifics about
The boom box.
I think I could gracefully back out of the deal.

Any advise as to what I should ask the seller
To make sure it is 100% in good full operational condition .

I will talk to him Wed the 12th.

He says he offers returns if one is not happy
Or feels an item is not as described or promised .

He may even pay for return shipping.

I would love to have a M-90.
But not sure this one may be that one .

Any advise will be appreciated

I can't really tell you if that's a good price to pay or not, as I don't have one. On eBay I've noticed they float around that price, many times more around 1500. In my opinion... that dent in the tuner trim is pretty minor IF, it is easy to get the trim off to straighten it... other than that, I thought the box looks really good, a little mark on one of the tweeter bezels, but really clean from the pics.

I'm sure somebody here has paid a lot for one, maybe they can tell you if they have any regrets.

Buyer's remorse sucks... like a kick in the balls....

That I got 3 years ago for $350.00

I will have to see what the seller says
When we talk. I have seen M90,s go for
A grand In worse cosmetic Shape and
A non working tape deck

It sounds like you made up your mind about backing out of your bid agreement..... Not sure what to tell you. Dont bid unless you know its the right item for you.

You would also need 2 new complete Antennas with the base...the ones on the boombox look awful IMO and it would drive me nuts like that

Good specimen of an M-90.. Tape deck works too!
These prices are why I'll never buy one..
I also dislike when a bidder never pays, don't bid unless you intend to pay!

I shouldn't have put in a 2nd bid. I was very
Supprused no one else outbid me in The
Last few minutes. I will have to look
At the antennas again in the pics

It looks like a pretty honest box except for those antennas - they look like they're off a TV!
Hopefully the rear case didn't have to modified to fit those bases!

The seller has good feedback and he is willing to accept returns - all good signs for a seller confident in his/her product.

The M90 should sound much nicer than your M70 (not just louder but better quality sound) so I'd say go for it!

The price is OK IMHO if it's fully working with a healthy deck. I've seen really rough M90s go for similar money with dead decks etc.

Good luck,

James.... :-)

P.S There is no way to 'gracefully' back out of a deal that you initiated.

If youre capable of spending $1236 on a boombox....and you wanted an m90 then go through with the purchase. We can get you a replacement top trim (the one that's dented)...and you can find some replacement antennas for a reasonable price (not originals). All said and done we're talkin $1500 including shipping....and you'll have a pretty damn decent m90. I wouldn't sell you my m90 for $1500.
You bid. You should pay. If you really know what you were bidding on (its a fn m90) I don't think you'll be disapointed. (Unless its completely FD up when you receive it)

I agree with trippy, buyers remorse does really suck. BUT, in my opinion it looks bad to back out on a deal. Especially when your talking big bucks like this. Just be 100% sure that you want to pay that kind of money for a boombox and most importantly, HAVE the $$$. I hope it works out for you bro, whichever way the deal goes, tough lesson learned :-(

I dont think anyone here would sell you an m90 that looks that decent for under $1500. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

That price doesn't seem out of line with what I have seen in the past. Yes, the antenna's need to be replace. Not a big deal. Member Bredgeo makes the top trim, so you can get that part here. It also has a working deck.

Obviously, it's up to you, but if you really want one, it looks like a solid box. Plus, like everyone said, don't bid if you're not gonna buy.

Thank you all for the advise . I will
Chat with the seller today.
Yes it does appear to be in pretty
Good cosmetic condition. Functionally
It is said to work fine. He does not know
If any of the belts were replaced or any
Other work done, as he is not the original
Owner.
How dufficult is it to chsnge the belts on this
Unit? I got a M70 near mint all around a few
Years ago for $350.00 . No problems at all
Not sure if the tape deck belts replaced. But I
Doubt the original belts are still working properly 32 years later
I know the M 70 has 4 Amps in it.

They rarely go bad from what I have read.
As they are very well made Amps for
A Boom Box.

Does the M90 have 4 amps as well?
What have you guys see as the most
Common thing to go wrong with a M90.
As we are talking about a 30 plus year old
Piece of electronic equipment

Looks in fairly good shape, just needs a good scrub!
The top trim is easy to replace and can be obtained and it's the "w" version so it has proper line in!

People have their tax return money in hand. The weather is getting nice and people are getting outside and need something to play tunes on while sitting at the beach drinking beer.
