Rooting through boxes of my grandmother's things left in the basement 20 years ago and I found this tape of a 1980s family picnic held in celebration of my granddad's birthday...

Three people - my grandparents and an aunt - on that snippet of tape are no longer with us. My mom and two of her siblings can be heard as well. They're still alive as of this posting. Haven't sat down to give this tape a proper listen but a quick scan brings up a lot of another uncle singing and playing on his guitar. I don't recall if I - or my late brother - attended this shindig so I don't know if I can ever bring myself to listen to the whole thing. Really dislike the sound of my own voice...

I have tons of such tapes. I used to call them "**** tapes" because I was just fooling around. My GE tape recorder could record fast if I pressed down the fast forward button in addition to the record and play button. This resulted in making all of us sound like chipmunks.
