M90 Speaker Question...

it looks real good but i would try to keep it stock ,, more than sure that it would sound real good a lot of the boxes with a speaker change do sound most of the time real good as long its a match in ohms :-) :ninja:

Well, if I were to ever sell the box, I'd put the originals back in....

For this price, it'd almost be worth it just see/hear the differences.

That's what it says on the magnet, too... What a strange ohm load??? 6 ohm? WTF??

just be aware that a standard 8 inch woofer will not bolt into the m90 becuase the m90 woofers have over sized flanges you have to modify the woofer frame to get them to work.

question for floyd:
is there anything you see on that 8" frame --that might make it a very difficult
mod -- to fit the m90 ??

basically you have to bend the flange on the speaker frame where the screw holes are making them flat then you have to enlarge the monting holes on the speakers to line up with the mounts on the case.

I was really just looking for chrome dustcaps when I stumbled across these speakers...

But, the primary issue is the ohm rating. What would happen if I put a 8 ohm speaker in to replace a 6 ohm speaker.

To be honest, I've never even heard of a 6 ohm speaker??? I've heard of 2 ohm, 4 ohm and 8 ohm, but never 6 ohm.

john -- my gut feel is that the 6/8 ohm deal is an insignificant problem --

but to ' get real' :-D
and disable this venture -- :-) :-)

none of us should be buying anything -- blind and on some dumb whim !!!

because that 'cheap' 14 bucks-- is REALLY almost 40 bucks --
when you buy TWO and add the s/h

is your own 'gut feel' that these speakers are a serious inprovement???

I think I may have to take some straight on pics of my GF-9191 HB (white woofers with black caps) and super impose those speakers onto an M90 pic to kinda get an idea how this would look.

Most importantly, I don't really want to alter the sound of the M90 or do any damage to the amp cirucits.

But, this sure would make this bad boy instantly recognizable as mine, eh????

Then, I could take out the existing woofers and take my dear sweet time restoring them back to original look and not lose out on having the M90 available for use. No downtime for the M90!!!! LOL!

the 8 ohm woofers wont draw as much power from the amp thus reducing the sensetivity of the system you may have to crank it louder to get the same output as the old woofers the new speaker might just handle the power better.

So, basically... I'm not going to do any damage to my M90 putting an 8 ohm speaker into my M90.

And, I really won't know how it sounds until I actually try this.

(Ira, in anticipation of your next post,..... I need to give this some more thought)

TransamHemiFrank put different speakers into my M90.

You may want to ping him and see what impedance they were and get the low down on the meatball surgery he employed to massage them in (I've had the back off and they look like they've been chewed by a T-Rex!). Sound sweeeeeet though.
