Sanyo M9990 Owners Manual/service manual help

As the title suggests, looking for the service manual and owners manual for the above, cannot find any, please let me know if anyone has one

A service manual for this would be really useful...then I might be able to get the flaming deck out...it's the only box I've given up on rebelting lol

OH dear.... I just bought one of these and if you gave up on rebelting Si then Im in trouble, I know your pretty tenacious when it comes to getting decks working.....

It's a great box with fab bass for its size but the deck is a bitch to get to, I just couldn't work it out...and yeh I don't give up easily, I think it's the only one I've admitted defeat on. No matter which bits I undid it just wasn't shifting. With a manual I'm sure it would be a doddle. I know Del can do them...we could do with him doing some pictorial instructions for us

Yeah absolutely that would be helpful. I wonder if Deli would be up for me sending him mine to fix hehe. I haven't even received it yet but it was sold with the line:

"tape deck untested as I have no tapes" so its obviously not going to be working :0

You send him yours to fix then he can take pics as he goes, post them on here, then I can do mine!

Yes, it's only an update bulletin but the correction it makes is to the cassette deck layout images, so it should be useful.

As for rebelting this deck, it's not as difficult as it would seem. I rebelt it just like the M9994 (plus loosening/removing clock for access), which is that the deck is loosed from the front side of the chassis. I described the operation here on boomboxery so maybe just do a search. The thing is that you really do need to be real careful because the deck will remain tethered while rebelting unless you want to do more than that. Also protect the tuner dial because it's very easy to screw that up with the deck flipped and sitting on it. Lastly, these Sanyo's have a slip clutch that wears out, and it's not uncommon to rebelt only to find out that it still doesn't work properly. Again, the slipping clutch issue has been addressed here on boomboxery by several members.

T-Ster, seriously consider purchasing a copy from Norm. It will be a better scan than anything else you'll find, and you're supporting a highly valued member.

I realise this thread is 4 years old but I've just re-belted an M9990K and it wasn't too difficult. The main PCB needs to be unscrewed and lifted up out of the way and from there on it's pretty straight forward.

I have a hard copy of the Service Manual for the Sanyo M9990LG (on front page: doc # WM4199) (on rear page: July.,/'79/3000SI), I don't mind posting a copy if anyone would like one. I could also look into creating a PDF in a few days although this will be a first for me. Feedback on this is very welcome.

I have my M9990LU apart atm. I may take some pictures when I get a better chance.

-Turn the tuner dial until the needle is on all the way right
-Remove the dial plate (removing it is quite easy, but be careful with the needle)
-Undo 2 screws near the top, under the plate
-Undo 1 screw next to the motor
-Unsolder the motor
-Slide the mech downward, carefully
...until...
-You see that back side has 2 contact switches that have to be removed, unscrew those
-Mech should be removable now
-Unscrew the metal holder plate on the back side (note the orientation and screws + small sleeve)
-Take out the 2 upper belts
-Pull out the capstan, slip the short belt out of the groove
-Press Play, slide the belt as far as it goes
-Press Stop, slide & pull the belt out
