Pioneer SK 353 L auto stop problem

[SIZE=large]I have a Pioneer SK 353 L which has developed a fault with the auto stop mechanism: the play button pops up after a second every time you try to operate it – I presume this is because the auto stop is falsely detecting the tape coming to an end.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=16pt]Could someone please give me a solution for this – I am completely un techy minded so please please make it simple to understand for someone without any prior knowledge[/SIZE]

sounds like a worn/ loose belt , when there is not enough tension on the pulley's the belts wont grab enough to engage the auto stop ,also affects the deck playback as there is not sufficient tension to engage the tape drive. belts that are too tight will also have the same effect.
