Some time around 30 years ago I found this tape in the desk of my math class...

There were five 'rap' songs recorded onto it...

Fresh 3 M.C.'s 'Fresh'

Run DMC's 'Jam-Master Jay'

Davy DMX's 'One For The Treble'

Grandmaster Melle Mel's 'Jesse'

And Treacherous Three's 'Turning You On'

The rest of the tape - as found - was blank so I'd recorded other things on it like a radio interview with the recently deposed president of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos. Used to listen to the Art Murphy radio show at night - he had interviewed Imelda Marcos over the phone. Wish I had that on tape.

Don't you just love listening to auditory artifacts? :-)

So cool you still have this after all these years. Ah, the memories!
It helps to have lived in the same house for 35 years. Things tend to accumulate. I'm more surprised when I *don't* have something saved...

Found on another tape a version of Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer' with an extended intro that I can't find in even the darkest corners of the internet.

That is awesome! I still have all my cassettes from school days and each one is like a moment in time.

Having recently restored an old Marantz portable 3 head deck, I have been digging back through my old boxes of tapes (I have hundreds of tapes!)- some spanning back to the early 80s.
I find it amazing that it's been at least 20 years since I listened to any of them, more like 30 years with some of the older ones, but more often that not, I can pick a random tape and know what song will be coming up next, what the DJ said and fragments of memories come flooding back. They really are time machines for me and I'm amazed how good most of them sound, considering their age, the fact that they went through some hard times with me (waterlogged floors of my first cars etc.) and that the equipment I had back then wasn't great.
Very glad I didn't throw them away like most people I know did.
