// I copy my topic on S2G //

I had an Panasonic egg few years back. And although it's only of DS series with full range speakers, its sound amazed me a lot. Sold it after just few months due to some fatal issues that cannot be fixed.

Then when I discovered this site and read tons of positive comments on the legendary Cobra lineup, especially the two brother DT707 and DT909, I decided to get one of the top eggs one day.

And after much searching effort, I finally get my hands on one of the best, the DT909.
The box arrived yesterday, after a long journey from the the other end of country. It cost me $50 plus $10 shipping. Not a good price for an egg in fair condition but I knew this model is rare so the deal was sealed quick
.

The box came with original cord but without the remote. I'm looking for a replacement remote now. As many of you here have known and mentioned before, this ugly box sounds stunning. The bass is incredible, the mid is very good too, much better than my two 80s boxes. The sound quality in overall is very detail, clear and it's very, very LOUD. I haven't got familiar with surround mode yet (just did a short listening)
. There are still a lot of knobs and functions to test also.

Here are some ugly pics of that ugly Box. Sorry for the bad quality, my phone worthes even less than my box

Love to hear your opinions about this egg. Cheer.

I like these. There, I said it. In a public forum! Seriously I do, and although I can understand the urge to find a remote for it, if it's just for the convenience value that you're wanting one, how about using your phone's infrared port and a remote control app instead? Or if you don't have an Android or Ubuntu phone, you could buy a "Universal" type of remote that would work with it, assuming it is IR and not microwave operated.
Good quality universal remotes scan the device automatically in search mode and can set themselves up in a few minutes, all the user need do is assign the function to the button of their choice and on a touch screen one, you can add custom labelling on screen. Not original, but functional.

Don't sell yourself short - That's a great price for a 909, and worth every penny.
The Cobra Top series may not have the classic look, but those putting them down have most likely never heard one. I picked up a 707 as part of a 2-box deal about 2 years ago. My intention was to keep the DT-630 and flip the 707. When I got it home, I powered it up and gave it a listen. It now has a permanent home in my collection.

Thank you all for commenting.

Nice suggestions Beosystem10. I'll look for a universal remote as my phone doesn't have Infrared Port. What I am wondering now is if such a remote can recognise such an old device as this early 90 box?

Superlew, I am sure that box will have fun with me for long time. That box is going to get a good place in my room.

And Boomboxlover, that's nice egg, much more attractive than mine. How does its sound compared to the Dt707 or 909? I was thinking of getting a DT75 but it doesn't have Techno surround mode.

An out of topic question for Hardmen and BL48. I love the Pana 5350, found one in fairly good comestic but missing the large square button on the same row with tape control buttons. Is that button identical to ones that can be found in other models such as 5600? The ower is asking for $150. the pic on the following link, I'd love to hear your opinion. Thanks

That Panasonic is the King of Kings! Don't waste a second to buy if the radio is working well on both channels. Don't worry about that REC MUTE button. It is one rare and the most sought after boomboxes of all times. It is the King Panny! I have one and I LOVE and adore it! See my avatar!

I like this box

I have an DT75 and its great quality sound and pretty loud also.
I still look out for a 909 or 707 from time to time but they can be quite pricey, you do sometimes see them cheapish but its being in the right place at the right time. Like with all collecting :-)
