Hey guys I'm looking at getting a few Reel to Reel Cassette Tapes? I'm in the UK/Ireland, also what type is the best overall?

Expensive tapes are nice and good quality:

Cheap tapes are medium quality and you can buy more units:

Look at eBay.co.uk and you will find the various proposals...

For actual recording and playback purposes, thae Eagle ones are utter sh*te! Even in the best, most tolerant of my devices they give truly awful performance so the answer I'd give you is buy anything that's not one of those! ;-)

(And why does a cassette - that's filled with the worst quality, bog standard ferrous oxide medium ever made - have the cutouts to switch auto-select decks to Metal bias/eq settings? That would only serve to make them sound even worse. It's not big and it's not clever, etc.)

Hi John,

Why not open up the eagle cassette and feed in with nice HQ audio tapes. It should work.
Will not a light spray on the spool faces to mask the eagle name with a blue, red, or gold metallic paint make it all look like new?
I've never tried it.
It is worth a shot!
This way we can transform the eagle to a golden eagle!

The Eagle tapes look stupid, plus they are not rare at all. There's 50 of them on Ebay every day of the week.

If you want white-colored reels, search Ebay Germany for "Super Ferro", they are a lot better looking than Eagles.

And then there's "Reel Cleer" tapes which are very common in the USA, but their quality is only average.

Stick with TEAC. They are expensive, but the best quality and best-looking by far.
