Hey guys, just finished fixing up an ailing 975. The heavy metal box in the bottom was broken out from its mounts and was doing some damage in there. After re soldering wires and gluing back some pieces she is functioning great! However the left channel is a bit quieter than the right one. I can adjust the balance to compensate, but has anyone ever run into to this on this model and what was the cause? I have cleaned the balance knob ( and all the switches). Though I still get a hint of static from time to time when adjusting so they may still need to get worked some more. Thanks!

I would guess it still needs a cleaning. I would acquire some DeOxit brand contact cleaner and give those controls another go. Maybe spray down the EQ sliders as well. But don't flood anything and keep it away from the tuner board as that stuff will screw up the tuner if you spray it in there.

I would also clean the contacts on the switching buttons (phono, tape, radio) as well as the head phone jacks.

Check all your connections in the back as well and of course, when complete CRANK IT LOUD! :-D

I had two experiences with a low channel both with Lasonics TRC-931s. On one the transformer broke off during shipping and hit one of the amplifiers heat sink and loosened the solder joints. Re-soldering fixed the problem. The other low channel problem was fixed by cleaning the EQ sliders with DeOxit Spray.

Old post.... but still good info . Currently troubleshooting similar issue with Clairtone BBX favouring the left side with the right side not as loud with balance set at zero . More cleaning of switches and pots required I'm guessing .

I've got a Lasonic TRC-975 with channel issues as well. The balance is almost completely turned to the right speaker to have the sound balanced out of both speakers. I'm really hoping this is not an amp issue, but I have a bad feeling that it may be.
