Hi,I've been using my Aiwa 660 for a few days camping and it has performed great.
The deck controls were getting a little sticky hold them in kind of on the last day but still all worked ok as they were just a little sticky staying in.Only on like the last full day of use.
Well the last morning I was playing a cassette and I noticed it slowing down,so I hit stop and then nothing since then.
If you hit play the power light will light up and If you spin the flywheel the heads will engage and disengage after hitting stop by spinning flywheel but no motor going?
Wonder if rhe motor is burnt out, didn't smell bad but will check for power at the motor when play of FF engaged and see what's going on.
I also wonder if a component burned out on the deck?
Any suggestions? Would live to get thec deck going again, everything else works great!
Glad it waited until rhe last morning!!:(

That reminds me.. I need to replace the volume pots in my Aiwa 660. It crackles when it gets turned up or down... I also need to look back in the forums to find out what y'all said about how to deal with that WAY back last year when I picked it up...

I don't know about your issue, but I hope the boombox fairy visits you and fixes it tonight in your sleep!

Holly you can buy this can of deoxit and spray small amount into a switch or pot and work switch/pot back n forth fully 20-30 times ;-)

Could be anything. You ever change belts? Or it could be motor or resistor :hmmm: check n test is all I can say bro ;-)

Hi Bill, like I said, belts are good,I think I ran it too much and is tired, motor or resistor.Sounds logical, testing this weekend.

Jeff, Check the motor leads for voltage when play function is on. If not it could be a problem with the motor.

Also inspect those small leaf switches involved in the play mode.
